Local Economic Development, Planning and Rural Development
The Local Economic Development, Planning and Rural Development came into existence through the fusion of two Municipal Standing Committees, which are LED Standing Committee and the Human Settlements and Disaster Management Standing Committee.
This resulted in the department being led by two Political Heads, which are:
- Councillor Pula E -Portfolio Head for Local Economic Development and
- Councillor Sigwili NE-Portfolio Head for Human Settlements and Disaster Management
The department has two Deputy Directors, one responsible for Local Economic Development and
the other responsible for Human settlements and Disaster Management.
The two are:
- Mr. Malibongwe Nqeketo – Deputy Director for Local Economic Development and
- Vacant - Deputy Director for Human Settlements and Disaster Management, a registered Professional Town and Regional Planner
