The Local Economic Development and Planning Department came into existence through the fusion of two Municipal Standing Committees, which are LED Standing Committee and the Human Settlements and Disaster Management Standing Committee.

The department has two Manager, one responsible for Local Economic Development and the other responsible for Human settlements and Disaster Management.
The two are:

• Mr. Malibongwe Nqeketo – Manager for Local Economic Development and
• Manager for Human Settlements and Disaster Management, a registered Professional Town and Regional Planner
